We will mostly be creating custom packages now. New rules apply to new hostees only, previous hostees will keep the same hosting arrangements. We took down the layout and replaced it with this text-only version, but all the information should be there. We offer free subdomain and domain hosting. You will have access to CPanel, and Fantastico where you will have the ability to install scripts such as forums, and the popular Coppermine gallery script. Our servers support all the typical features, such as php, mysql, and FTP. In addition, we support phpmotion and codecs for other media software, and we take requests for the installation of any other scripts. We do not set hard limits on most accounts. Reseller accounts can be provided to certain hostees upon approval. We take domain name requests, including full-name celebrity domain (i.e., domains with only the celebrity's name in them, e.g., haylieduff.net, or david-cook.com). In return, we ask you to support our network by choosing one of the options belo (see below for ad/link code). You must have at least intermediate website skills and we expect you to have enough website experience to manage your website, fix problems yourself, install scripts, etc. Although we may be able to help, do not rely on us. 2. QUALITY. Your site must be high quality. You'll be asked to redesign your site if necessary. You must have original content, we will not host sites getting their content from other sites. Fix all broken links on your site. 3. ESTABLISHED SITES. You must maintain a high position on google, first or second page. We are taking mostly established sites, this mean no new sites please. You must have at least a keywords and description meta tag at all times, and have a pagerank. 4. HOST SUPPORT. You must display our ad code or link according to your arrangement at all times on all pages of the site. This must be done the moment you make your site public on our servers. 5. MISC. Your site must be in exclusively English. If you must put your site on hiatus, leave the site browsable. Please leave galleries/forums viewable without registration. Your site must work for all browsers and all resolutions, do not create sites best viewed by a certain browser setting. Do not create layouts that take up a very small portion of the browser. Please avoid coding your site in frames unless absolutely necessary. For media accounts the site must be hosted with us first. Keep your CPanel email updated because we will send you important notices through this email and you need to be able to receive and respond to messages within 48 hours. If you are accepted, please fully set up your site within 4 days - coming soon pages and temporary layouts are not acceptable. If through another site please specify the exact site(s), do not just write "another site". ============ AD/LINK CODE ============ Hostees, if you need the ad code, please copy and paste the appropriate ad from one of the sites below. The ad must: 1. be placed near the center of the screen, verticially centered. Ads at the top, side, or bottom are not acceptable. 2. not show irrelevant content. This means you should have meta tags in your HTML to help google determine your site content and show appropriate ads. Please do not apply if you don't know what this means. 3. Have an appealing color with an appropriate color border. You can change your ad colors but please be careful not to introduce mistakes which can invalidate your ad code. For links, please place a link to orangesarecool.com. Please add a title = "Free Fansite Hosting" tag. In addition: 1. If your site is hosted without ads, you must make the link visible enough so it's clear upon entrance to your site that you are hosted by orangesarecool.com. If you are using ads on your site, the link can be placed anywhere although preferably not at the bottom of the page. ======================= REGARDING FREE DOMAINS ======================= We take domain requests but your site must receive at least 300 unique visitors/day, fewer visitors may be acceptable for less popular celebrities. Please only request high quality domains. Your chance of getting a domain is also higher the longer you've been hosted with us. ==== FAQS ==== Q: Why did you start this site? A: The site started out hosting one or two sites, and we had extra space on our server to host other sites so we created this site. Originally we hosted sites ad-free because we were paying for server costs anyways, those spots filled up quickly and we had too many hostees on it so we opened another server. Q: What's your name? A: Please address your emails to "Oranges". Please keep all your questions hosting related. Q: Can you help me back up my site? A: We can help you create backups but it's your responsibility to keep a copy of all your files at all times. You can do this in CPanel -> Backups, or by downloading your files via FTP. Q: Can I run my own ads? A: With permission only from now on. If you want to do this you need to compensate us for your hosting costs first. We have some hostees paying and some co-running their ads along with ours. Q: Can you help me install a script? A: Possibly, but please try to do it yourself first. That means spending more than 10 minutes on it. However, do not rely on us, we expect a certain level of experience if you are hosted here. Q: Why do I have to put an ad? A: It helps pay for server costs and for domains. Q: Can you help me transfer my site? A: Probably, if we have time. Q: How many sites do you host? A: Around 90, as of 5/2/08. 166, as of 9/8/08. A: We made a DNS change and needed to make major updates on the information on the site so we took everything down and rewrote the information.
